Devious Journal Entry

Journal Entry: Thu Dec 4, 2008, 5:28 PM
Hello again to my fellow deviants, I am updating once more with the latest from my side of things.
There are several things to cover, but I'll start first with the status of my cat, who I'm starting to believe she become a sort of mascot for my page here. I have another friend who does that sort of thing with his own feline companion. It's a thought, anyway...
Ash has officially been fixed, luckily with no complications or undue stress. In fact, the little bugger wouldn't calm down when we got him home from surgery. He even fell on his furred butt a few times due to the affects of the drugs. He even had slurred cat-speech on the car ride home, which was laugh worthy.
We got a picture of him and his new beany-baby toy courtesy of the great vet's office we go to. It's of him when they just finished the surgery.
Sleepy Kitty

Look's like an innocent little kitty, doesn't he? Don't let the cuteness fool you, he likes to kill his toy...ALOT.
Meanwhile, I had to keep him indoors a solid three days, since he is an indoor/outdoor cat. I kept him with me in my room. Every night, he insisted on attacking my feet each time I moved them under the sheets, little punk.
Well, now he has recovered, and is back to his usual indoor/outdoor routine.
Here is a pic of him in my PC chair. He has a very beautiful profile, and he's really turned out to be a great first cat for my Mom and me.
Ash On PC Chair
Thanksgiving was okay, but I was glad it didn't last too long. Just didn't feel right to sit around, eat, laugh and drink wine without my Dad there.
Christmas should be okay, but it will be less than what it once was. I'll be thankful if that too is kept somewhat short.

Oh, and I've found out I can't drink regular milk, I can't digest it anymore for some odd reason. It's happened to a few others in my family before too. Not sure why, but it did. So now I drink a lactose-free milk, which really tastes about the same. I can still eat cheese, but ice cream is a huge no-go at this point. That's okay I guess though, since I don't eat it that much anymore.
I have some other health related things going on too, and my insurance is proving to be difficult about it.

It has also dawned on me that I really don't want to accumulate as much stuff as I used to anymore. Why? Well, because some moving companies apparently don't give a shit how much they're paid when they handle boxes that explicitly have the word FRAGILE written on them.
We had to move up alot of stuff from our previous house in Florida since it was left there. The way things were taken apart, boxes stacked recklessly, things broken, is rather inexcusable. Almost half my stuff was broken, especially the treasured anime statues I've collected over the years, and some of the D&D dragon model kits I put together by hand.
I can fix some of them, but we are still taking pictures and are going to complain to the company. Hopefully they'll give us some money back.

I have sold a few prints, and gotten a few more commissions. Things are gradually getting better in that arena, and hopefully this year will get better too. Not just for me, but for everyone.

Oh, and a good friend of mine, Marc :iconedgeling: will be coming down from Tennessee again to visit after the holidays. It will be good to see him face to face again. Maybe we can catch another movie like last time. ^_^
Thankfully, he won't have to drive his car through dirt roads this time.
I have taken some pics of the new house and the surrounding neighborhood, when I get them developed I will post them in my next journal entry. I rather live in a normal suburban neighborhood than a backwoodsy kinda place. It's much easier on the cars, and there's actually people, dogs, cats, and kids walking around. I love not being isolated. Thank God for that. ^^ Plus Ashy-boy made friends with the next door neighbor's two little girls. They're so cute too, and they're at a great age(around 9 or 10). Makes me wish I could be that young again. Well, guess us old adults can watch the future generation and at least reminisce the good old days, and hope for better ones to come. :)

Later.

Such a cute cat! My mom doesn't want pets (inside or outside! Luckily, my dad can still keep his bird dog), she loves her precious furniture too much, so I can't keep too many animals...unless it's a mouse or something small.

I think I'm starting to get that way, too. About the milk thing. I know most Asians are lactose intolerant. My mom's like that. I haven't been. Ever. Until a few weeks ago. D:
It sucks... I miss my milk in the morning. T3T
:iconshiki-rynn:
Thanx for the compliment on Ash. :) Well, cats aren't really that hard to care for, in a way they are one of the best pets you could have. As for training them not to mess with furniture and other stuff, a small squirt bottle usually does the trick. ^_^
Once you get on your feet and get a place of your own, you should be able to get a kitty. Just be wary of any apartment policies beforehand, just to be safe. As for getting a cat, I really think rescue cats are the most loving, so adopting from a shelter or a rescue group might not be a bad idea when the time comes.:)

I didn't know about some Asians being lactose intolerant. I have always been able to digest it myself, and now for some reason I can't anymore. I'm beginning to think maybe they're putting something different in it now. Maybe that's why it seems to be affecting more people now.
If you can, you could try the same lactose-free milk I use at the moment, it's called "Lactaid" and I usually get the blue carton. I hope that helps. :/

Before my family moved into our current house we had so many cats, all were outside. My mom is a neat freak, so having an animal inside the house was out of the question! lol. We had a calico that had many, many kittens. Squirt bottles. I'll keep that in mind. :D

I was actually thinking about moving in with a friend once I can get a steady job. She wants a cat but hasn't paid the down payment for owning one at her apartment. She was thinking of getting a cat or a ferret (I had one before and she ended up liking him a lot).

I might try that out. Thanks. :)
:iconshiki-rynn:
Yeah, getting any cat fixed is a must if you want to keep their numbers down. Around where we were living, people didn't fix hardly any of there animals. Plus with cats, females call plenty of males when she's in season, and males typically wander off for days.

I had a friend who had two ferrets, and they were lots of fun to watch. Boy, do they get into trouble though. One of them tried to steal my shoe once. ^^ Unfortunately, they are a bit stinky, but I've heard of a few things you can do for that. Not sure how well they work though.

:)

Yeah...but kittens are just so cute! o.o' I wish people would invent toy cats (like toy dogs) so they'd stay tiny forever. :3

Mine wanted to explore a lot. He often would scramble to my parents' bathroom and try to go down the shower drainpipe. Or attack people's feet. They are cute, and very playful. ^^ There was a type of bedding that could help control the odor. I think it was pink. It did help a good bit. 8D
:iconshiki-rynn:
Yes, kittens are great. :D I love how clumsy they can be sometimes. My kitty is about 6 months old now, but he still acts like a wacko sometimes. That would be interesting if they could create toy cats, though I think it'd be difficult since regular cats are as small as they can get. I wouldn't rule it out though. I think making them bigger is probably easier somehow.

That certainly sounds like a ferret, since they love to run off and get into things. ^_^ If you can, it might be a good idea to get a younger ferret so you can train him/her early on. :)

Ash is a very handsome cat, indeed, glad to hear he's been good company for you & your mom. holidays are usually a mixed blessing at best; hope you can get thru yours without much trouble, maybe even enjoy a thing or 2. sorry the movers did so much damage to your stuff, for some reason i've found those types to be either real pros or real assholes. good luck with the repairs & hopefully, a return on some of your $$$. real happy to hear things are getting better with the art & everything, too, wishing you all the best with that going forward.
